Memorial Day weekend 2018

We've had an amazing holiday weekend. Thursday after work we met at the Downtown Nashville Library to vote for the new Nashville Mayor. After voting we spent some time checking out the "Nashville Civil Rights" & "Violins of Hope | Strings of the Holocaust" exhibits at the library, then we walked home. When we got home we headed to ML Rose for a dinner before going to Cheekwood to see Intrude by Parer Studios. On the way home we were happy to find that Mayor Briley would remain our Mayor until 2019 and no runoff election will be needed. After voting twice in May, this was a relief.

Friday evening we stayed in and recovered from our busy Thursday evening. Daniel made a vegetable korma in the instant pot for dinner and we watched Star Trek TNG and relaxed.

Saturday Daniel had a haircut then picked up our ClickList grocery order while he was out. After he got home we went out to Hermitage to go to Hobby Lobby. Daniel and I each have craft projects in progress that we'll share in later post if they continue going well. When we got home we each worked on our projects until dinner.

Sunday we drove to Bowling Green, Kentucky to surprise my parents and grandparents with a visit. My grandparents surprised me by being out and about when we arrived so we went over to my parents. My brother came over and brought my niece, too. We all got to hang out together for a few hours. It was nice visiting with everyone, and seeing my moms garden progress (it's so much bigger than mine in every way). I wish I had remembered to take some photos, but we were all too busy enjoying each others company. We stopped by my grandparents again on the way home and got to visit with them for a few minutes. I'm so thankful they had been feeling up to getting out and enjoying their day. Since we were close, Daniel and I stopped by Lost River Cave to check out our first hiking spot as a couple. Everything has changed so much and it's so lovely.

Today, Daniel and I got out on the Tandem bike and rode to Shelby Bottoms Greenway and all the way to the Two Rivers Bridge, for a total of 17.55 miles. It wasn't too hot, thanks to the cloud cover that made the ride nice and relaxing. I really enjoy getting to see the ride that Daniel has taken every weekend for the last several years. I can't wait until we get a rack on my car so we can take the bike for rides further from home. My only regret from today's ride is not getting a picture of the little boy carrying the gigantic catfish he and the very proud man behind him had caught. After our ride we loaded up and headed back to ML Rose to have lunch on the patio with Magnus. Magnus' restaurant training is going amazingly well, we're really proud of how well he does.

We hope everyone has had a lovely and safe Memorial Day weekend.
