Stay-cation for Daniel’s 36th Birthday

Daniel had a 5 day weekend by taking off Tuesday and Wednesday after Labor Day to celebrate his birthday on Wednesday.

We started the long weekend off right, with a 14.5 mile bike ride in Shelby Bottoms.

Sunday we took Magnus to his favorite dog park, Two Rivers in Donelson. This wore everyone out fairly quickly because of the heat, but we all had an absolute blast.

Sunday we decided to try something brand new, and we went to our first Nashville Sounds game (I had been once with a work trip a few years ago). We chose an evening game and ended up having a great time. We'll have to do that a few times a year from now on.

We decided to stay in on Labor Day, figuring everything would be busy. We played board games all day. We had gotten a few new ones and had not had the time to dedicate to learning new games. We finally got to do that and it was great. I won Bob Ross (yes, there is a board game) and Daniel won Everdell, they were both a lot of fun to play. It was an wonderful day.

Tuesday, we figured all the tourist had headed home after the holiday weekend, so we walked to the Southern for breakfast on the patio with Magnus. They have absolutely the best pancakes in town and I had a craving. After breakfast we headed back to Shelby Bottoms Greenway for our second ride of the stay-cation, this one was a short ride, only 8.14 miles. We did see how fast we could get on the tandem on this ride, we hit 21 miles an hour without an incline! We spent the rest of Tuesday being lazy at home, it was relaxing and great.

Wednesday for Daniel's birthday I got up first thing and made Daniel a pineapple upside down cake. I was nearly finished while Daniel talked to his parents. We spent most of the day cuddling and celebrating Daniel's wonderfulness. We finished the day at Von Elrod's for dinner with Jake then Pottery.

It was a great stay-cation & birthday for my wonderful husband.
