Cirrus McFluffington was born December 7, 2020 here in the beautiful state of Tennessee.
Cirrus joined our pack February 7, 2021.
His name was a challenge, we wanted something that referenced Magnus, something short, and something that would be fine to holler. We went through Scandinavian names (Brodric, Bjarke, Pádraig being rejected). We went through many names ending in "nus" and "us" (Linus & Tiberius were rejected). We settled on Cirrus, like the type of cloud.
As of writing adding this post and his profile, Cirrus has been in the family six days.
On his first vet appointment Cirrus weighed 2.88 lbs as of Friday he weighed 3 lbs. He's growing very fast.
Cirrus learned sit so fast, I think someone had already been working on that command. He's also learned "Leave it" since arriving (with about a 20% failure rate). We're working on wait, and he can wait for a whole ten-count (I silently count between treats). Leash training is improving every day, but sometimes a tiny body just lays down. His leash is also apparently too delish to not chew sometimes. Cirrus almost always makes it to his potty pads, his only accidents have been pee and on his way to the potty pad while playing. Clothes training worked much better after it kept him warm on his porch excursion.
Cirrus has had his first toenail trim at home, he was cool as a cucumber about it. He also got his first mini haircut. The haircut was mostly for training reasons, it's much easier to get them use to the trimmers when they are tiny. I cut the hair from between his toe beans, from his backside, and undercarriage to make him easier to keep clean, and to give him some much needed traction on our woods floors. He got much faster, this might have been a mistake.
Magnus has benevolently allowed Cirrus to play with selected toys, is up to two now. They ran and chased Daniel together like a pack yesterday. Magnus still chooses not to sit or lay touching him, but to be fair Cirrus does chew on whomever he's sitting with.
