Last week while taking a Lyft to the airport in Denver to catch our shuttle to Winter Park a thought floated through my head...
Almost forty. I'm almost 40.
The following day I would turn thirty-seven while skiing on the slopes of the Winter Park Resort. Next year I'll go to my 20th high school reunion. It all seems very surreal. I don't feel nearly forty, I don't think I look nearly forty, but numbers don't lie. I'm closer to 40 than I am 30.
Thirty-seven doesn't sound half as scary as twenty-five did. I think the biggest difference it that I'm happy. Finding happiness isn't easy, but it's worth chasing.
I'm not one of those people who puts a lot of stock in birthdays or other milestones, but I do love lists. For this next year around the globe, I've made two list... my goals and the things I'm thankful for. I'm sharing them here to keep myself accountable.
What I'm thankful for
I am so lucky in this life. I do not take any of it for granted...
My Husband
Daniel is the most amazing man I've had the privilege of knowing, I'm lucky he chose me. Not only is he my best friend, he's become a freaking amazing
cook.
My family & friends
I have an amazing family and wonderful in-laws who only live a few hours away (except for Jake). They are supportive loving people whom we cherish being so close to. Daniel and I have wonderful friends across the country that we see through our travels and through our phones along with our wonderful local Nashville people.
My Health
Yes, I'm chronically ill with a list of ailments, but I'm incredibly lucky that it's all somewhat manageable. I'm thankful for the health I have.
My puppy
I have the best puppy there ever was. He loves tourists, also wearing sunglasses and shoes. He comforts me when I'm ill and always looks adorable.
Our home
We're coming up on 5 years in our cozy condo (seven in the neighborhood) and I love our home and the neighborhood growing around us. We have free concerts in the living room three-quarters of the year, whether we want them or not.
Our Work
I'm thankful for Daniel's work and work ethic that afforded me time to take off and heal so that we could live bigger. I'm thankful for the opportunity my business partner afforded me so that I could contribute despite my health.
My goals...
I have things I want to accomplish this year, and these are just a few of them...
This Body
I want to keep up my Physical Therapy and start tandem biking with Daniel regularly so I can be as healthy in this body as possible.
Make a difference
Our world is in turmoil, I will continue to attempt to make a difference with social justice, kindness, and with an open heart and mind.
At home
I am the HOA President, we are working on improving our building exterior. Daniel and I also have some home improvement things we want to accomplish this year.
CTO Life
My business partner and I are working towards some amazing professional goals to take our business to the next level. I'm beyond proud to be able to employ the developers and content creators we do.
Wanderer
Travel has been very difficult since getting sick. Through Physical Therapy & careful planning, I will travel more.
Globetrotter
Daniel and I want to travel outside the US. We already have our eyes on a few destinations, but this year we will at least get our Passports up-to-date.
