This weekends plans did not play out as we had originally planned. Daniel was suppose to spend a weekend in Monticello with his parents and I had plans to do some spring closet cleaning. Wednesday, Daniel got hit hard with a sinus/upper respiratory sickness. After feeling worse Thursday I took him to the Minute Clinic where they tested him and said it was a severe cold. When the weekend came he was still suffering and I had started to go downhill. He decided to not take the cold to his parents but rather to stay home and try to rest.
I went to the store after his minute clinic visit and got us all sorts of sick supplies and stuff to make homemade beef stew so he could have something healthy and yummy while he recovered. I of course made it with the Instant Pot. I'll probably share that recipe when I perfect it.
Saturday I actually felt better than Friday, so I moved forward with my original closet plans, slowed down heavily by the cold. I sorted and reorganized our entire pantry, our medicine cabinet, and our first aid cabinet. I was 2 closets short of my original goal, but I got the most used stuff done & cleaned up. Daniel and I also ordered some new baskets & some dry goods containers to improve the pantry closet even more.
Sunday I woke up and realized that after all my organizing Saturday, my house was a disaster area and our niece-in-law Brittany was coming to stay the night for a Monday morning flight. Daniel also woke up without a fever for the first time since Wednesday so I decided to de-germ the house. Daniel felt well enough to help (a little) and we got the house back in tip-top shape before noon (before we had gotten sick & I had organized it had been clean, so it wasn't far off). I got a craving for some heavy calories so I made cupcakes with buttercream icing again.
Jake texted to see if we needed anything from the store since we have been sick and we asked him to pick up some eggs since we were out after the cupcakes. He came over to bring the eggs and get some homework help from Daniel and I. He and I then helped Daniel make potato soup in the Instant Pot (Daniel has promised this much requested recipe is on the way). Then Brittany got here and we all got to hang out for a while and have soup and cupcakes for dinner.
Jake headed home late last night, very confident in his homework now, and Britney headed for the airport this morning.
After years of living in Nashville without family here, having Jake less then a mile away is a wonderful blessing for which we are regularly grateful.

I love that gif of Daniel and me. Looks as if he was scolding…which he might have been haha
